Hey Tom
Music is simply a passion. I am 57 and got serious about music when I was 13. I have been gathering guitars, basses, amps, and recording gear ever since. I don't play professionally and don't seem to have the time. Music is my therapy. It gives me mindless, intellectual expression as well as artistic outlet. I love the fact that if something doesn't work out perfectly nobody dies or suffers.
What kind of strat did you get? One with a rosewood neck or maple? Strats are great guitars. I picked up my first Strat mid 80s when the lace pickups were first released. It is truly a great guitar but doesn't have the classic strat sound because of the lace pickups. I have two other Strats, one that is sunburst with a rosewood neck and the other is off white with a maple neck. They are essentially idential strats other than the necks. The combo has really taught me the difference between rosewood and maple in terms of sound.
My favorite guitars with the Regal II are the single coil Strat or Tele. The Regal II has a very full, fat, warm tone and a warm humbucker seems to get in the way of the Regal warmth. Yesterday, I discovered a great tone. I used a maple neck tele with original brass 3 saddle, switched to the bridge pickup-- very, very bright sound- too bright for any of my other amps. Then I rolled up the Bass knob on the Regal II and was totally pleased with the tone.
What type of food are you preparing in your work? I have only been to Maui once but used to go to Kauaii and the Big Island often-- but, haven't been back in over two years. I've got 6 acres of land in the Puna District. My dream was to build a modest place but I just can't find time.
What kind of music are you into?

Hi Jon,
So do you play professionally or just for fun? I see you are a doctor. I am a chef so playing is a passion for me. Do you have your own recording setup?
I just bought a new strat yesterday for my birthday, sounds good throught the Regal. What guitar do you play?
