    Hi Jim,

I hope you don't mind me pm'ing you - I'm sure you get a lot of questions...

I read that in the past you were modding LynxTwo cards.
If I am correct, you used to change DACs (CS4396) and op amps (BB2227).
I would like to mod my LynxTwo-B card.
CS4396 chips can only replaced with CS43122.
What op amps would you suggest now?
I was thinking of OPA827. What is your view?
Looking only at D/A section, any other possible mod?

    Kind regards,

    Gianluca

Hey, sorry to bother you, but I was reading a couple of your posts where you discuss active preamps (if I'm thinking correctly) between the output of the pickup and the volume and tone controls of the guitar. I was curious as to how I might do this. I had some EMG actives in and older Ibanez, and while they were super quiet, they didn't have a whole lot of character. Right now I'm running some Muy Grandes single coils in my Grosh strat copy. Could I fit a small preamp circuit underneath the pickguard assembly?? Not a ton of room in there..Thanks in advance for any comments you might be able to give me..

Jim: I'm interested in the extra 224 boards you have. What are you asking?

Jim, I just recently got ahold of a Soundcraft Series 500 36x8. Is there anywhere online where you explain your suggested mods? I am interested in possibly making upgrades though quite honestly I want to sell it to someone who needs it as I have a frontend and ITB.

ah, i forgot...there are some stickers on the alps-faders saying "tested", on those stickers there's also a date from the year 1983, so i guess it's been built in that year...

    hi jim.
i hope its ok contacting you. it seems you're the guy to ask when you have problems with soundcraft eqipment.
i've just purchased a "soundcraft series 200" mixing console, no "sr", no"bve" and even no "b", just "series 200". on the soundcraft site for old products they have no information about that board. my console seems to be ok in the channels, but to have a problem in the master section. the technician whos helping me with fixing the board needs schematics, and i'm looking for them quite a few weeks but cannot find anything. someone told me the master section of the "series 200" was slightly different from the master section in the "200bve", but that does not help me a lot...
do you know where to find schematics for this board or whom to ask?
thanks for your time, i hope you can hekp me..
    best regards, christian keul.

    Hi Jim,

I hope you don't mind me pm'ing you - I'm sure you get a lot of questions...

Anyway - I just wondered if you would mind giving me your opinion on DAC converters. I need a good 2 channel DAC, preferably with a headphone amp. I have demoed and am impressed with the Lavry DA-10. However - cost is an issue and from what I have read you consider it possible to put together a good DAC for considerably less. This been the case do consider it foolish to spend $1k on a DAC such as the Lavry? I don't mind spending some time putting something together.

    Kinderst Regards,

    Tom

    Jim,

I wonder if you could give me an idea where these cables go inside a delta 200

Hey Jim, we've talked briefly about IC's in another thread. I need some better advice about my vintage Audioarts 8k console It has NE5534's and TL071's and 072's in her. I did a test with a mix (I've done about 50 times) I did completely in the box (since I couldnt get it sounding right on my console) mixed it down to DAT and it sounded great. After that, I took that same mix from my DAT, ran it into channels 1+2 on my console - just so it could go through some analog circuitry - out of the console back into Protools and compared the 2 mixes. Mix "A" (in the box mix) sounded great, I could hear the higher end on it, I could hear the transients good. Then played back Mix "B" (ran through the console) and it sounded like it had a HF roll off around 16kHz, sounded a little thicker/muddier than the ITB mix. What would you suggest for this? Toss the console, or would you say its worth replacing it with new chips? Even though that could be a little pricey!

    Thanks alot for your help!
