choinga Howdy. Yeah, I A/B'd them...the Bock is awesome. The Pearlman just sounded better on my voice and just more 'finished' overall. The Pearlman needs very little EQ, if any...ever. It's a tube mic, so it's really warm...not a lot of siblance and just sounds great up close.
It's more like ~$600 more and IMHO, it's well worth it. I'd make sure you have a nice pre to work with it. I use an Aurora Audio GTQ2 but you can dig into the Pearlman threads and see a lot folks using different stuff with it.
A TM-1 is not a purchase you'll ever regret, that I can promise you. I've recorded 6 different vocalists now - all very different, and the TM-1 worked well on all of them.

Seti808 Aloha
You mentioned in a thread that you moved from the Bock u195 to the Pearlman TM-1
did you have a chance to A/B them?
Is the Pearlman worth $800 more?
Is the Pearlman way better or just a bit better or is it close etc..
any feedback on the differences would be much appreciated
I'm about to purchase and your the only guy I saw that has had both
