Hey cool man I'm planning on using it for tracking and mixing while patching in my nicer external pres. Two things does it have the required ins and outs for tracking and mixing without unplugging anything and re-pluging? Also do you have anything on youtube or dropbox that I could hear the console in all of its glory?

Hey man do you feel the 24 Channel Toft ATB is large enough to handle your projects with out stemming a bunch? Mainly for a typical rock/hip-hop group.

Yes, I really love both and they just have a slightly different flavor. I think Alan Smart intended the C1 to be more like the Quad buss compressor from an SSL, and the C2 is his idea of how to improve on that sound. Both great.

I find the C2 to be more "modern" sounding... but I know that's a tough subjective call, but given what you're looking for, that would be my recommendation.

It's one of my favorite compressors, very punchy and puts a sort of sparkle on things... but a little goes a long way. I was shocked how little the needle moves compared to how hard it works (in a good way).

Not sure where you are, but if you're in the L.A. area, I'm happy to let you borrow or try mine.

Hello have you tried also the C1? In that case what you think between the C1 and C2 for moderon music like AVril Lavigne, Katy Perry (1st album)?

The Inward Connections mod was about $1500, but he may charge more now as I was ind of an experiment. We mainly did the 2-buss and used his transformers, so sort of like having his Inward summing unit vibe in the Toft, which is great. Personally, I love it, feel like it did some good. That said, I did not do it because I felt the Toft was lacking, I just went for a different flavor and to be honest, a pure experiment, which ended up sounding good. Hope that helps! -andrews

I own a Toft ATB 24 and I LOVE it. There are a few little quirks but what can you expect at that price.. Anyway.. I saw you said you had yours moded by inward connections. How expensive was it and what was the noticeable difference ?

It would cost between $20-30K for a 16 channel SSL 4000 with a center section... the key is the center section. I'm sure you can find plenty of big SSL consoles that have been chopped down or have 8 or 16 channel buckets, but then you need all those channels and cards tied into a center section. So, the tough part is to find a true SSL tech that could either build you that or find a full size SSL console, have it chopped down to 16 channels, keeping the center section and sell of all the unused channels. To be honest, it is a very cool idea, but tough to make work, find someone to get it to work, tough for the money and/or new SSL products like the X-Logic make more sense (I had mine built just before that was available). It is still cool though, so go for it if you can! I hope that helped. Regards, Andrews
