Hey there! I was very lucky when I started my business. I was and am a music major at my local college, and there are many people that are playing recitals and concerts on a weekly basis. I started recording them at first with the school's equipment but then branched out with better equipment and started charging. I have to keep the rates low (we are talking about poor college students) but it has been very beneficial. I now record about 90% of the concerts that happen there, including a symphony orchestra and wind ensemble. I just started out with a small live recording mixer, a few mics, and of course cables/stands, and went from there. I only invested about $2000 for this start-up equipment and upgraded whenever possible. Good luck!
