    Hello RoundBadge.
Could you please tell me the exact configuration of your VP28's? Which op amps, transfos etc... I'd like to order a pair and I think we aim for the same kinda sound. I also own Retro Powerstrip and 1084. But these VP28 are a appealing. Thanks.

    Hi RoundBadge,

I have really appreciated your input on gearslutz (Retro 176 and Pulse EQP-1A3) as I need to decide about EQ and Compressor purchaces.

My question is have you heard the Old World Audio u33? (they also offer a pultec clone)
this does fit my budget but not much out there about them.

    Thanks for your help,
    Chris

sorry for getting back so late. I was away for a few days. The UM70 capsule has a low serial number which means that it was produced between 1972 and 1974. The body was made in the early 90s. Its the transformer version.
Please send me your mail address. I can send some more pictures then.

    Hello,

I have received my Lucas CS-1's, but they are at my studio in the Bay Area with the rest of my gear, and where I will be moving in a few months. It would be great to meet you, and see your digs before I leave the area. I'm near Sunset and La Brea, and may be reached at my mobile: 213.618.0099.

    Regards,

    David

    Hi there Roundbadge,

Funny story about the Nevermind drum not being rented out anymore.

You wrote that you found that hammered drums have interesting overtones, but you prefer regular shells for recording.

I recently bought a Black Beauty with a hammered shell. I find it a great snare, but a bit too ringy for me. I would like to hear more focus. I tried a die cast hoop, but did not find the effect I wanted. I might go for a Powerstroke or such a drum head, but I was wondering if it's the shell.

People told me the hammered ones are less ringy/overtone'ey. How do you feel about that? Also I'm curious for the comparison with the aluminum Supra and the Ludwig Bronze snares. Maybe I'll find a Ludwig snare better suited for my needs.

How do you feel about this?

    hello hunter
i meant to say you look like my friend parker kindred.
i am living in london as i have an adorable 2 1/2 year old daughter and an ex here....
my place in nyc is great and has a room to stay in. i am doing $400 days if 5 or more days
are booked........let me know if you are interested or know anyone who might be and would
be a good fit....if you know tom schick, he is using my room a lot.....maybe you know t.j. doherty - he has also liked my room......either way....it is a great deal without the lodging.....check out parker, he is a great drummer.

    be well

    Hello Roundbadge,

I'm in line for CS-1's number 52 and 53. I live near Sunset and La Brea, perhaps I can bring them by when they come; compare them to the classics. I also have a pair of Telefunken USA Ela M 260's. Yes, I know, but I wanted a pair of tube SDC's, and didn't want to deal with vintage items, a 10 year warranty ain't a bad thing either.

    Best,

    David

Hey- I've been on gearslutz for sometime and have always dug the Warlocks double drumming/sounds. Obviously incorporating these two likenesses, I've come to see that you have drummed for them... any off-the-cuff tips or stories or anything?

I've been working on some material involving two drum takes also and can't get over how well the sounds can turn out.

ps what time period/tour(s) did you play with them for? I've seen them 4 times or so in the Detroit/Chicago area--
