    Hi mate,
Ive seen in the forums you seem to know about Lavry converters. I am a starter in the high-end world and dont know how to connect stuff.
actually just building a home studio.
and considering getting the black DA11 + black AD11, do you think there wd be clocking issues? how do i connect them? do i need a separate audio interface for using them?
do you think the preamp on the ad11 is good enough for recording? even if you can answer 1 of them , wd be great
    cheers
    miles

All the OSA preamps have two transformers. Transformers don't make things noisy. If it has a Lundahl 1538, then it's an "L / Mutant" model. If you are referring to the black box on the unit as a transformer, it is an op amp, not a transformer. There is an output transformer (not labeled as its a custom transformer), it's kind of rectangular shaped, but you can't mistake it for the opamp as the transformer is larger, and the opamp is about 1"x1" and is entirely black. The op amp, and the rectangular output transformer are the same on all the OSA preamps, the difference is the input transformer (the Lundahl in this specific case).

Hello from Los Angeles. Got a question about a used OSA pre I'm looking to buy. This guy has what he is calling the L Mutant model. The only picture he has posted shows a white and green knob. That tells me it's a C model. I told him this and he sent a side view pic. It does show the Lundahl LL1538XL which is the transfo for the Mutant model. However it also has the square transfo which is what they used for the C model. Is this possibly a modified L, or C ??. With two transfos wouldn't that make it a bit noisier??. I already have a C model and don't need another one. I need something a bit cleaner for vocs.

    thoughts.............thanks

It works great in that purpose...we put +4dbu input on the back of the unit on XLRs because I felt that tracks and 2 bus both benefitted from the transformers and the multiple choices that the Juggernaut Twin has.

Hey Nathan, Wondering how the Twin would perform on the 2buss for some added weight/ flavour?

    Hello Nathan,

As I've seen in posts that you know a lot. I'm hoping you could help me to make a decision

I'm thinking of buying a compressor. either a distressor, a second hand mc77($1300) or a second hand trakker($1700)

I wanna get that R&B deep synthetic bass drums and heavy snares sound. I heard that distressor is great for this.also, heard that is great for acoustic guitars, and electric guitars which is awesome cause i use this instruments a lot. However, people say that is not that great for vocals.

On the other hand, people say that the Mc77 is like so good for vocals but that's about it.

whenever there's a threat about distressor vs trakker, people kind of usually lean to trakker. So, what would be the best choice for my needs?

other thing that is in my mind is to get a distressor first and then get a mc77. would that combination cover all my needs? or should i get the trakker now and forget about the others.

Hello Nathan. I'm running my folcrom passive mixer through an api a2d. I've read numerous threads where you mention you have had the priviledge of trying the folcrom with many different pres. Would you mind sharing those. Among the ones I'm considering are the TG2, MP2NV, MA2.2, and the Juggernaut. I find the API to be a little dark and not detailed enough for most mixes complex mixes, although I like it better than my previous mixer (Dangerous 2bs lite). Thanks in advance for your input. You can PM me if that suits you better.

Hi Astro, yes Tim builds the Juggernaut for us. It was a collaboration between myself and Tim (we both have complementary philosophies on engineering). I come from a rock/guitar based back ground so combining that with his ability to keep things huge sounding and quiet (among others) allowed for a very special piece. Also see our new Juggernaut Twin stereo rack unit, releasing around June of this year.
