    Hey there,
I wish I could say I'm a finish repair expert, but my experience is somewhat limited. I make my living doing guitar repair, but I tend to shy away from finish repairs. That said, I've performed some small miracles in the past when my screwdriver has slipped, etc. With catalyzed finishes, my best results have been achieved with the use of super glue, but the sheen does not always match once the surface is polished. I'm intrigued with the techniques mentioned in the American Lutherie article in question, but I've yet to invest in the products mentioned by the author.

I think the article is only a couple of pages, but there's enough information to get you started. I'll scan it and send it to you in a day or two.

    Chris

I came across a post you responded to when I was searching Google about repairing catalyzed finishes. I'm at my wits end with a particular finish repair project and saw that you referenced an American Luthiery article discussing Mohawk finishing products to blend poly touch up. I've experimented with a very broad range of finish combinations for years to no avail and would be extremely interested/grateful to gain any insight from your experience and research. Thank you very much in advance. -Ryan Scott. Scott Guitar Works - Louisville Ky
