Hi Jochen,
I find it's nice to have the choice...but quite often I end up summing in Logic due to time constraints. However, if I have the time and want colour I'll go through the Folcrom (8 channels of it) and use the DRS-2 mic pre and Neve portico compressor (as a buss comp)...in truth I think this gets me closer to a 'console' sound and the DRS-2 does add a kind of 3d effect.
The Metric software and console is cool too...but takes time to set up, so most of the time I'm either in Logic or through the Folcrom, of course I can always add the odd character plug if I need to.
I love the ULN-8 and usually end up using the mic pre's in it...great clean pre's ...amazing really. Still use the DRS-2 if I want the colour ...great for rock vocals or bass guitar.
I'm sure I've still lots to discover about summing in the v5 console (I'll probably get there slowly!)..
Hope this helps.
Best,
Paul.

Hello A440,
after seeing the photo of your equipment i'd like to ask you a question.
I am working with ULN-8, LIO-8 (+4 mic-pre's) and a DBox, which i find a beautiful tool - but mainly because of the monitoring and the additional DA.
Since i've changed from MIO2882 to ULN-8 i wouldn't say that the DBox-summing helps or makes something (even a little bit) better. This might also have to do with the time corrected software (console v5) but i think the reason for summing has changed.
Do you use still the Folcrom? Is it the perfect tool in combination with ULN-8 because of the MH-"characters".
I am thinking of some "real" architecture. The next steps could be an EQ and a compressor or a nice mic-pre.
It's not a question about "the best" color etc. - i would like to know if the folcrom really equals or increases the quality of the ULN-8/console v5 software and makes it even more versatile.
Your equipment looks like you will know what i am talking about.
Best,
Jochen
