    hi Trin-

no worries man. i had to figure it out too. I use a TRS patchbay (cheap berhinger one) and i have everything plugged into that. but you can hook the fireface directly up to the dbox or any summing mixer. it's probably preferred to do it that way actually. it's pretty easy to set up. just take the 8 TRS outs of the fireface into the dbox. you'll need a TRS to dsub cable but they are easy to find.

I monitor through the dbox as well. the DAC is great. i use the fireface's spdif out. i had to get a spdif (RCA) to AES (XLR) digital cable though. that's the only type of input for the DAC on the dbox. then i have my monitors hooked up to the dbox.

the dbox is super well made. very solid and the buttons/knobs are all high quality and there are no corners cut in the thing at all. it's just a great box.

also, if you shop around you can probably find it for less than $1400.

    hi ignatius,

Saw your post on about summing mixers for electronic music. would you mind shedding some light on them? i do own a fireface 800 too and i was actually initially on the lookout for a simple monitor controller as i just bought a pair of bluesky to go along with my NS10s for alternative monitoring. I thought the presonus central station could do the job, but then i saw some bad reviews about them (i.e DAC, build etc) then i saw the Dangerous Dbox which looks like a good solution (although costing $1400!
it has 2 outputs, good enough to solve my problems and even has summing.

I am totally new to this summing thing and have read enough to want to try it out, but i am kinda lost in how i should connect it to the fireface? or does it go straight out from my computer? if so, how should i hook them up? it has a tascam D pin thing at the back. I am sure its a better DAC compared to the fireface? how should it connect it back to the fireface?

Apologies for pm-ing you abrubtly. Really appreciate if you can shed some light as i am kinda lost in this. looking forward to hear from you. Cheers.

    Trin
