Benchmark DAC-1 vs Apogee Mini-DAC

Anyone can compare these two Dac's? Apogee recently dropped the price on the Mini-Dac all reviews look good, but would be nice to hear from someone who may have encountered both..
Thanks

Bump for someone to reply to the OP's question. I'd love to know as well.

+1

Both these models represent a possible upgrade path for me.

Feedback would be very helpful.

Do a search for benchmark DAC 1 and you will find it's used for monitoring in quite a few few mastering studios. These studios generally have 1-2 other converters that are top grade, so I would expect the DAC 1 to hold it's ground quite well.

The Apogee mini DAC is lesser quality than the Rosetta 200 DAC. From my experience, I don't believe the Rosetta 200 really cuts it for mastering, it's a bit too coloured. On this basis I wouldn't consider mini DAC for mastering.

However if you want a good converter to go with your laptop the mini DAC is a winner.

SOS just did comparison of these 2 models in the latest issue along with the Lavry DA10. The impression I got was that the Lavry was a notch (slightly) above the other 2. Check it out!
