cd text in samplitude 8

I don't master generally but burn cd's on the fly within samp for mixes so I haven't noticed this before. On this occasion I have post-produced my own bands album, I've just realised after a couple of years of using the program that the song titles don't appear in programs like winamp or windows media player when they play the cd but they do appear on mp3s when I rip tracks off the master cd. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, all the right boxes seem to be ticked.

The next time you put that same CD in your computer, it will access that same database and automatically fill in the track titles, artist names, etc. for you. If you want the same info to come up in Windows Media Player, or a program like it (e.g., Real Player, Quicktime, etc.) or if you want the info to show up if you went down the road to your friends house when they put the same disc in their computer, you'll have to submit the info to a online database called the CDDB (CD Database) which is controlled by a company called Gracenote. They actually recommend you use iTunes to upload the information of your disc to them. Luckily, iTunes makes it pretty easy to do this! After you type in all of the info that you want to appear, choose the "Submit CD Track Names" in the context menu. (in Mac OSX it's under the Advanced tab at the top. Can't remember what it is in Windows, Sorry!) This will upload the information to the database and file it with other info like disc length, how many tracks there are, etc.. When you insert a disc in your computer, such as a Major Label release bought from a store for instance, you'll notice iTunes will say "Accessing CDDB, Querying Database". This gathers all the info for that disc and stores it on your computer automatically for later use. Sometimes, you'll notice multiple items will show up in a list and you'll have to choose which disc is actually in the computer. This means that there's multiple discs out there that have the same amount of tracks and is the same length! Seems rare, but it happens quite a bit!
The other process is called "CD-Text", which is basically what it sounds like. This information is actually stored on the physical disc itself and is recognized only by CD players that support CD-Text. A lot of times you'll see this in car stereos or real high end home cd players. You'll need special software to encode this text and normally it is done in the mastering process when you're releasing a record. For example, There's a program called Waveburner, which was made by Emagic (now owned by Apple) that comes bundles with Apple Logic that can write CD-Text pretty easily on the disc. There are a few more programs out there that can write text for you too. From what I understand, "they" (the mad scientists behind all of this crazy technical stuff!) are working on a new technology to make CD-Text a more stable and cross platform friendly format. Right now, if you were to put you're CD-text enabled CD into ITunes or a program like it, it would completely ignore it because 9 times out of 10, your CD-Rom drive in your computer does not support CD-Text. Crazy huh! I know, it's frustrating! Hopefully, we'll come to a happy medium soon!
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Short version: Winamp, WMP, most computer media players *don't read* CD-Text.
