protect your hearing before surgery needed

Because of 50 years surfing cold water with wind blowing against my head without wearing protective ear plugs, it's time for surgery to remove bone growths blocking 98 percent of my hearing. Medically known as exostosis of the external auditory canal, commonly called "surfer's ear". The operation cost as much as my new Barefoot minimain 12 monitors. Need to hear better to appreciate them. It's part of being a gear slut knowing this is important, right?
Moral of the story... protect your ears before surgery is needed!
