R.E.M. style --> Reggaeton-ish sound

Maybe I'd rather post this in the "stupidest things you've heard during a session" thread...
Client has a few (good) songs sounding somewhat like R.E.M. Losing My Religion/Shiny Happy People/...
Done some limiting, multiband, saturation stuff on the mixes, which aren't actually bad without mastering. Now he wants me to give them that Reggaeton punch like Gasolina.

EQ lift @200, more multiband there, anything completely different...I'm lost right now. Don't even know what could be worth trying. Suggestions? Thx

Long attack, short release time on the midband. But if the tracks don't have that vibe already (esp snares), you're outta luck.
