Techniques for setting Ozone's character slider?

I am wondering if anyone has any tips. Usually I fluctuate between 3.0 and 4.0 (which is default). Sometimes drop it down to 2.0. What is the best way to set this? Sometimes the difference is so subtle. Should I try slamming the limiter in order to hear what's going on, then set the character and return it back to its normal threshold settings?

EDIT: I understand what's going on. When it's pushed further left there is less limiting and the limiter becomes more of a clipper. However, I don't like this sound... it sounds unnatural to me. I understand the whole idea of limiting is to make sure it's inaudible, but when I read about most people's settings in Ozone I am amazed that it's usually the fastest settings between 0 and 1.0.

I haven't used it in awhile, but for me that setting always depended on song tempo and drum "power". It's relative, so when people are saying they use the faster settings, they might be using Ozone for faster tempo music.

Do you mean if there is a lot of transient peaks?

My music is relatively slow, so.
