We use the Apogee Wyde Eye here. I can't say I hear/notice a difference to other cables, but their technology seems sound, and they're not terribly expensive. I think I mostly paid the extra to eliminate any doubts I might have in an inferior cable. Whether that's justified....

I am using Kimber select 2020 with BNC connectors for my MADI connections. Word clock is transmitted via AES, I don't have any separate word clock feeds.

BNC Cables? I would challenge anyone to tell me there is a difference with any cable.

Have them made or make yourself
Belden 1694A
Canare BCP-C connector

These should cost about 15-20$ for 2m or 10 if you make yourself

and the cable quality is magnitudes beyond requirements

Most wordclock is of the 75 ohm variety IIRC. I think digital video is 50 ohm. I don't know if it actually matters but getting the right kind couldn't hurt.

1694a is just quad shield RG6. A bit of over kill for a 5 foot run and a bit on the unwieldy side if you have a bunch of it in a rack. If you are going to buy the crimp tooling I'm a big fan or the mini RG59 like Belden 1855a. The correct crimper and die can be had for about $55 at markertek or $30 if you really scour the web. The BNC connectors are Kings 2065-11-9

All the best,
-mark

I like RG59 too. If you want to make cables, get set up from someone who can supply cable, connectors and crimp tools/ dies that will work and fit. It's very easy to get mis matched stuff that won't fit. Believe me I know.

We use BNC cables for all our MADI connections as well...at hundreds of feet.

I just use RG-6 and whatever connectors I can get for a reasonable (but no junk) price. I was fine running S/PDIF a good 20M that way.

Just buy 75ohm with good built quality (so, not the cheapest ones). But it will be no difference in sound between $10 and $300 digital cable.

Get your cables from Redco at custom lengths. My pick was a 12" Gotham SPDIF cable. I think they carry the Apogee as well which is good.
