What are your thoughts on this SRC algorithm.

It is on par with the best I've tried. The choice of Linear Phase or Minimum Phase filtering makes for interesting listening comparisons. If you can get by without real-time SRC it is a very good program.

I like it the best of all that I have tried.

The free edition leaves a lot to be desired, but the pro is good enough that I don't worry much about sonic impact from SRC anymore. Having the option to give a slight brightness or not(linear vs minimum phase) is a nice idea.

My primary SRC is the Weiss in real time. But I use R8Brain once or twice every couple of weeks whenever I have to do a file-based conversion.

Thumbs up on the sound! I use linear phase and steep because i'm trying to have the src'ed result sound as much like the original. So far R8Brain has not let me down. My only reservations are ergonomic. I'd like to be able to batch add or subtract some text to the names. I name my files, for example
love me do mast 2496.wav

and when I src it I want to change the tail of the file name. When you batch a bunch of files, you want to know by their names the new rate. So I end up putting them into a folder called "src'ed to 2444" and then manually change their names. This need to include descriptions like this within a file name is very strong and prevents a lot of confusion.

Both of your wishes have already come true! =) At least in the version 1.3.1 running here.

Selecting folders or groups of files will batch process them. The 'add suffix' field inserts text to the end of the filename. Last description used are stored in the program until it's changed, like 'r8bp44khzlinearphase".

Yes - although it specs and graphs slightly differently, Saracon and the SFC2 sound virtually the same, except that Saracon also supports 176.4k/192k and DSD.

Do anyone know if the linear phase algorithm in the pro verion differs from the linear phase algorithm in the free version?

Or is the difference only that there is an optional steep function in pro that can make things a tad better?

I've been running exclusively in minphase mode so far, but maybe should do more experimenting with the linphase mode as well...

Yes i think they do differ.

Leaning to wards pro.

I did various testes the other day with pro and free and in each case pro remained truer to the source.

They did not null either.

..So, as per the conversations here, SRC in Soundforge or Wavelab is still much to be desired.. correct?

Any clues as to which editor is good at SRC's!
