audio CD mastering freeware?

So I know this has been asked a couple of times on the forum... but not in a couple of years.... And new software comes out all of the time... and with more and more open source / GNU project software being released I'm sure there is a little more support for this type of software compared to a couple of years ago.

Anyway... Is there a freeware alternative to Sony CD architect 5? I'm mostly interested in software that I can arrange .wav files with 2 second gaps and make an image that I can send to a pressing plant (basic clean CD mastering basically). I don't need anything fancy... Sony CD architect is nice in the fact that you can do pre-gap "hidden tracks" (not sure if that is something that is -technically- red book compliant though) plus it has the ability to put ISRC and CD text... I don't really need those features though because most CDs these days don't even use CD text and I don't have a registrant code to issue out ISRC numbers (something I will invest in one of these days, but for now I don't care to spend the $75.00 for a registrant code to issue out ISRC when I am working in DIY minded small niche markets and I don't realy care who plays my music and I don't care to sign on with BMI, ASCAP, SOCAN, or anything like that... it's something that is just not important to me).

Anyway I hope someone can help me out. Cheers.

Mac or PC? Can't you just keep using CD Architect?

Free, I'm thinking Audacity. Very cheap, maybe Reaper, or Wave Editor (if you are on a Mac).

Sorry I should have mentioned PC. I wanted to see if there were any alternatives to CD architect. I suppose I could keep using it but I'm going to be doing a project with multiple stations and multiple locations and I only have one license for CD architect. That's why I was hoping for a freeware alternative. I suppose I could foreward the masters back to my primary station but I was hoping to establish a solution for my "clients" / friends to be able to compile a CD for future extended length releases they are working on.

Reaper or audiacity? Can you make track markers and make a CD ISO image that can be sent to a pressing plant using a standard daw?

Sorry, not sure about the track markers, was just suggesting that those two might be capable, although haven't used either for quite some time. You can definitely use Exact Audio Copy to make ISO files though, and that's freeware.
