Dynaudio BM12a x BM6A MK1

Hi, I am a big fan of the BM6As.
However, Seems they might be disappearing soon as they have released the BM6A MK II and the BM12A, a step further.

I was considering picking a third BM6A to keep here as a spare piece but have also considered the BM12A, since someone offered me a brand new pair today.

Any users of the BM12A? Besides power and improved low end, what are your opinions?

Seems BM6A MK2 is not as good as the BM6A as many people reported.

Thanks

The BM6AMKII and BM12A are less expensive alternatives to the BM6A and BM15A made with different amps and built in Asia.

I have never used any of these to master with, but I used to work for a store in NYC for over a decade as a product specialist and am very familiar with these. While the BM6AMKII and BM12A are great for the money spent, they are not as good as the BM6A or BM15A.

As far as the new models being the replacement, as of the release of these models the information I had was that the BM6A/BM15A would not be discontinued. This may or may not have changed by now.

If I was you, I would buy a spare BM6A pair or a pair of BM15A. Better yet (IMO), an used pair of passive BM15 and a nice amplifier.

I am also interested in BM12A. Any input is appreciated. Weird that I cannot find any legit reviews of this monitors at all.

BM15As are pointed for having certain inconsistency through the audio spectrum .

However, the BM6A has a slight dip around 2kHz, which to me is more than ok after working for 5 years with them.

I didn´t know that the BM12A were in the same asssembly philosophy as the cheaper BM6A MK2.

BM12A are more expensive than the BM6As.

Now I have this doubt.

All in the design. The original BM6 A/P was designed by Andy Munro. As I understand it the new models were not.

I can confirm that the BM6A classic, with the black case, is still being built and not going away. The BM6 and BM15 are different designs than the BM5a mkII, BM6a mkII, BM12A and the new DMB50 is yet a different design.

Alto Music has replied me the Bm6A Mk1 are no longer available.
I have just created a new thread asking for the Bm12As.

The BM6A Mk2 are cheaper and have less clarity, all the info I have up to now.
