How do you deal with ISP?

Demoing a lot of limiter plug-ins, I've always felt that the over sampling, true peak or ISP detection always led to compromising the highs.
I obtain the best results by simply reducing the gain.
Am I alone?

Either oversampling or lowering the gain works for me.

Oversampling if the client wants it LOUD with no ISPs.

Lowering the volume in all other cases.

I also feel using OS in limiters is usually audible as a very slight HF cut, but this CAN be just the right thing for when you are having to push the limiter harder.

Depends... client, material, end format / playback situation etc.

I often just set a ceiling at around -0.4 these days, using whatever limiting option works best. If wanting to be more cautious, it gets followed up with TC Brickwall in upsampling mode.
