CD Baby: World Class mastering starting at $99

Anyone have any opinion on the gear "The Sound Lab" use:

Rooms and Gear, Audio Mastering from The SoundLab at Disc Makers

Album mastered for $500...Do you think its false advertising? Are the guys who work there/is the gear world class?

I've used them before, cant really recommend them... They have great equipment but honestly the engineers are a hit or miss... I dont think you can request any specific engineer... I've also used Masterdisk and they have an indie price at $695 i think... Mastering to me is like lasik surgery, a bad or inexperienced doctor (engineers) can ruin everything... And those experienced doctors (engineers) come at a price... I wouldnt trust my project to anyone i havent personally met and heard their work... Just my opinion

Funny as I've been 80.00 a song (full album projects) for independents for over 12 years now and doing dedicated mastering for 17 years now (and engineering for 36)... so you don't always get what you pay for...

Sometimes you actually get MORE!

AND... I'm not the only mastering engineer on GS like this.

So you can go with someone who has years of experience and pay just a hair more (sometimes a hair less even)... or you can choose the hit or miss approach.

A little research goes a long, long way... just sayin'...
