including gaps for online delivery

I keep bumping into the same problem when trying to deliver files in an archve for clients:
I do track spacing in waveburner and bounce all the tracks as individual files.
I then reimport them to a new blank doc.
The new doc doesn't include the spacing I set. In other words, the gap isn't included in each track file created from the bounce.

I have sent disc images before, but often they can't open them on their end.

The only long and stupid solution that has worked in the past (if memory serves) is to burn a CD from waveburner, then import the CD into Toast/etc and the gaps are included.

I don't like this as it's long winded and wastes media (and I have to enter all the titles again).

Any clever ideas out there?
thanks!

Add the required silence in your DAW before exporting the files, dont add gaps in waveburner : the CD and downloadable versions will be indentical and include the right amount of silence.
We talked about that a few time ago , many engineers (but not everyone) are including silence directly in the audio files, in order to have CD/DL versions exactly the same in a reliable way (as all CD extracting softwares dont process the gaps the same way).
CD Master - no gaps anymore...

DDP is what I am using for online client references along with the sonoris oem DDP player that I can pass onto clients. The system has worked great and has saved me lots of time and I haven't had one compatibility issue yet. It does cost a little, but the time it saves and the client experience are definitely worth the expense.

1/3 of a second seems to be more than ok for a pre-gap.
1/2 of a second for post-end of a dithered file ( leval fading at -78 for example) is enough too.

Here is the solution for WaveBurner. I was very happy when I figured this one out.

- Do spacing as normal.

- Select a pause by clicking on it (click on the purple) and in the lower left corner window (tabs should be "general/inspector") under "pause length" type 0. This gets rid of the pause from a PQ standpoint but keeps the track start marker and spacing as it was.

- Repeat for all pauses

- In the lower middle window select the "CD Tracks" tab and highlight the tracks you would like to export.

- Go to File and then "Bounce CD Tracks...". From here you can rename the files, select bit depth, format (wav/aif) and apply dither if needed.

- The bounced tracks will effectively have their pause rendered to the end of each file thereby keeping the gaps identical to the CD.

Sort of convoluted but it works!

Nice!
It took a minute to find, the secret click spot, but once I pulled up the dialog, the "next" button helped it go really quickly.
Thanks for the tip!
I have attached a photo to further illustrate:

The hell you say!

I'm completely OK with leaving the Sound Designer II and MasterList days very far behind.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but could you perhaps clarify a bit? I'm struggling with this very issue, as we speak. I *think* I'm clicking in the right place (the purple pause bar has a white outline around it when selected) and I see the field you're talking about. However, any number I enter is automatically changed back to 00:02:00 (the default pause time, even if I change the "Default Pause Time" setting to 00:00:00) Any tips?

I was hoping this photo would help me, but it says it's been removed by the user... guess that's what I get for replying to a thread from March! Any chance you could re-upload it, or perhaps PM it to me? Much appreciated.
