Recommend a Stereo AD/DA Converter + Interface Under $800

What would you suggest new or used for such little scratch? Running Mac and using my own preamps. Thanks!

+1 RME. Babyface (~$750) or HDSPe AIO (~$850). Solid as a 44 gallon drum full of concrete.

Or Sound Devices USBPre2. Great sound, tank-like construction and awesome meters. ~$650

I should mention, I have an RME 9632 I got used for $200 and find it to be quite good, though probably not as good as the L22.

Under 800-1.000 $......there's only one for me: RME HDSPe AiO (Hammerfall). A very nice card. All analog and digital in and outs are working simultanously. Very fast performance and good sounding converters. You have the possibility to enhance that card later with seperate A/D and D/A if you want. Great for VST instruments and connecting analog or digital hardware processors from your studio into your DAW.

Thanks a ton guys. I heard a killer shootout with the Linx L22, but I'm on an iMac and have no clue how to make the card work and how to hook up the hardware I/O's. I was told by a reliable resource that the TC Electronics Konnekt 48 has both a good clock AND converter, but I don't really need all 12 inputs, plus TC's other hardware is really sub-par. The more shootouts I listen to, the more I start to believe that the internal hardware stage dictates a whole lot more of the sound that we give it credit for.
