2-Buss Alternative?

Hi -

Is there a specialized plugin or piece of hardware that will boost gain and very mildly compress?

I'm looking for something really inexpensive and simple for quick jobs.

Look at SSL G4000 clones. You should get one under $700 (used) if you're lucky

Flux BitterSweet.

It's a plug-in.
It will boost gain.
It will slightly compress.
It's free.

Well as you said fairly inexpensive, you could try one of those FMR Really Nice Compressors, people pick em up and move em on daily, that might suit for 1dB or something in super nice mode from what I've read..
