thanks, I saw that thread, but its clearly very incorrect! The difference some people claim are wrong, if you have ever opened both of these plugins you would know that they both have the lookahead feature.

Adaptive means the release time is adjusted based on the spectrum of the material. You want as fast a time as possible, but not so fast that the actual envelope of the signal is tracked.
