Really cool machine! I would replace every electrolytic capacitor in the entire deck, and at the very least, measure every non electrolitic to make sure they are within spec. I would also check every resistor, just to be sure they haven't drifted out of tolerance. The transport itself may need maintinence after all these years. Do you know what sort of shape the heads are in? I would get a service manual asap. If you can afford to do these things, you could have yourself a killer machine. It might not be appropriate for every mix, but for many it could be magical!

Pretty much ditto – an excellent all-tube machine. The rest is a matter of head condition, possible transport maintenance, and re-capping. It's also the heaviest machine I've ever had to shift (at least a 4 person lift) so be prepared to pay the freight for the weight.

you know classic cars in magazine's are the most beautiful cars you can get/buy/want/desire ... but having a classic car and riding it is a total different story .. be prepared to all it's pro's and cons ..... you needs some tech around you who wants to help/has parts/knowledge but ain't gonna rob you :-)

but once your mind is set, nothing is gonna stop you .. right :-)

If you're looking for a top quality mastering deck, you can get a newer Studer or an ATR for a lot cheaeper. It IS a great machine though.

The cheaper one is the better machine and he actually wants to sell. At €7k, the other machine is just a fishing expedition!

And you can drive to Berlin for about the same money as the cost of shipping it to Stockholm. That means you can try-n-buy! And the guy writes that the thing actually works!

Hi

I'm the owner of the company analog-audio (analog - audio) here in switzerland, since Studer does no longer support the analog heritage, we handle the refurbishment, servicing, calibration and general overhaul of all analog STUDER tape machines and mixing desks ((but no Revox at all) – we are exclusive specialists.

If you looking for one of the legendary STUDER C37/J37 Series we can help. These machines will be painstakingly restored so that all the performance figures specified by Studer are met or even surpassed. We got stock of the rarest necessary spare parts (including Heads 2mm and 0.75" Butterfly) for these classic machines.

For more Information, don't hesitate to contact us and/or read this review:
