What a"dream setup"I must say,and I hate apple [cause it's so stupid expensive here]but of course if I could afford it,I'd love it.

I love simplicity too http://soundcloud.com/rks26

I'm a "simple" man myself. Nice setup, but why the large desk? Other than supporting the drawer for keyboard/mouse it seems to have no purpose a much smaller desk/console wouldn't fill?

I would expect combfiltering and odd resonances from the desktop in your listening position? No?

I produce my own music in the studio as well, and need the table space for that gear from time to time. I just don't keep it on the table unless I'm using it. A custom desk is next on the list of studio upgrades actually though, drawing up the plans for that this weekend.

The SM9s are Very interesting Speakers …..impressive Low End,the sound is really full and detailed at same time…..I'm trying to avoid the placebo effect so I will need more time to be more precise and accurate.

Do you have a different point of view about the SM9s ???

A good place to show off my newly acquired Scully/Westrex vinyl mastering setup, I've been restoring it over the last 2 months and I've got it sounding good & running smooth. I used to think my Vari-Mu put out a ton of heat for a piece of audio gear but those 1574D tube cutting amps are no joke.

great setup!
I can see you use projector, how it is working for you ?
I was thinking about getting similar idea - smaller lcd close to the eyes, and projector with a screen inbetween speakers

Projector

Hi Red Mastering - I actually almost never use the projector. It's so big that it's kind of distracting when it's on, so I generally just leave it off. That way the only things in front of me are the music and the gear. It is nice to be able to use it if I want though, and it definitely gets used for studio photos!

Also, the projector is actually a rear-projection type, it shoots the image through glass in the back wall between my speakers. That way the projector noise isn't intrusive. The screen is made from a simple wood frame with a cheap white plastic shower curtain heat stretched over it. Probably not the best picture but definitely a cheap & decent looking way to do it...

thanks for answer,
I forget completely about noise generating by projector...
good to remember it!
as it could be a drawback,
hopefully technology will update to noiseless projectors soon

thanks again

No, it a MacBook running PlexTools on Bootcamped Windows XP!

soundBlade HD 2 is running on the Mac Pro tower, center screen.

But sB will easily run on the MacBook if needed, on OSX 10.6.8.

Best, JT

Ah yes, Plextools on XP. When I heard they were discontinuing them, I found 3 PlexWriters NOS and squirreled them away to install in an HP XW workstation. Your MacPro must be pretty well disguised, because I don't see it (just your big Mac).
