All custom built on site. Some are broadband, some are tuned perforated absorbers, and there's a traditional 1/4 wave cavity trap in back.

I have 14 GIK Acoustics 244's - http:///www.gikacoustics.com - in my room and am currently planning to add a few more. It'd be easy enough to DIY these things to save about half of the cost but being in NYC both my time and work space are limited (and the fact that I don't have all the necessary tools would wipe out the savings too) so it just made sense for me to get something that was "off the shelf". Anyway - the GIK stuff is relatively inexpensive, decently made, and in my experience pretty effective (I initially had a bump up at 200-400Hz at listening position that hanging them did a lot to cure).

Best regards,
Steve Berson

My base traps are being built into the room. In the corners, the walls come out about 15-20degees and the area behind is all base trap. I have soffits running the perimeter of the room that is a giant base trap.
The rooms were deigned from the ground up!

Side corners built-in plus two low-bass and two high-bass based on a design from Ethan Winer (RealTraps). Need a couple more to even out the room, though. The first time I tried one of Ethan's designs in a problem mix room a few years ago, I was blown away - he's the man!

I'm glad I'm not the only one - I have 18 ready to install in the new room. Even Glenn was telling me that it might be "a little more than I need" for the space But I think it's going to be just fine...

Right now the four I'm using are based on the Mini Trap design. This is for a tiny 10x14 room. The previous one used 6 floor-to-ceiling traps across the back wall.

Several. The big one in back is the traditional 1/4 wave trap with the hanging absorptive dividers in a cavity behind 703 and lined with mineral wool. There is also a perforated trap in front that basically works like a bunch of little Helmholtz resonators, and then there are some graduated depth traps around the room with differing materials on the front of each, and utilizing mineral wool stuffing. The different surfaces affect the desired bass trapping and response at mid and high frequencies. The room gets more lively and diffuse as you move toward the back.

All of this constitutes a combination of broadband trapping and tuned trapping and works together as a system rather than just a bunch of one-size-fits-all traps hung around the room. However, don't take that the wrong way. A number of quality generic traps can still be quite effective in treating an existing room. It's just that my custom system works with low, mid, and high absorption, and also diffusion and geometry, designed and built from scratch. It wasn't an existing room that was just treated. Everything is there for a reason and is designed to work in conjunction with everything else for an overall goal.

exactly ! i don't understand the point of using too much of the same material because every material has its nature and i'm sure a combo will yield better results in balancing a room, now i'm not sure about the combo but i thought about 4 real traps \ GIK traps on the back wall to wall corners , a super chunk on the front wall to wall corners and about four tube traps , all made out of different material , so every material will contribute its part .
