"Honor Roll"/Great Sounding Dance/Electronic Digital Masters

Anyone care to chime in with opinions on great sounding digital cuts of dance music/electronic music/EBM/EDM/whatever-it's-called-in-five-minutes-time!??

I'm mostly thinking club sound system oriented music but everything and anything more abstract would also be appreciated.

I say digital because I would like to build upon my Katz style "Honor Roll" of references that keep my ears fresh with whilst working (my vinyl playing rig doesn't exactly A/B!)

Cheers, John.

Inundated.

I didn't realise this thread would be so popular!

Okay at the moment James Blake's, "Give A Man A Rod (Second Version)" is doing it for me. Very loud and subby but still quite open.

Various - Hessle Audio - 116 & Rising (Vinyl, Album) at Discogs

Mastered by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis according to that page.

Come on. Any suggestions? You can say your own work if you want!?

the mastering on this is brilliant because it doesn't sound mastered, all of Ramas intricate details in the sub movements are there, all the sudden smacks from the back of the 3D image are there.. and look at the waveform.. hardly any limiting

Yet if I play this in a club, it sounds bigger, louder, better and youll have a crowd full of ravers with lumps in their throats at the pure weight of it.

massive attack 'mezzanine' would be on my top list;
it's a hell of a great mix and fantastic sounding record!

All the Live at Club Space, which were done by Greg "Stryke" Chin, phenomenal work by him.

if we're allowed to mention our own work, we were pleased as punch with the new album 'Trans Love Energies' by Death in Vegas, that we just mastered. Great understanding of analogue/modular synths & samples along with live instruments and sounds lovely on double LP!

In our experience, modern dance music is the overall genre in which producers are most guilty of getting a little too mastering plugin-happy on their mixes.
