ITB Mastering Compressor

If Ren Comp won't work for mastering, what ITB do you all recommend?

If I had to?? Sony Oxford... or UAD-1... They impart the least coloration of anything I've used...
I refuse to jump on the Waves bandwagon.

Regards,

why won't rencomp work for mastering? Compared to any other software compressor it should work just fine.

For me It can clip fairly easy ,
...and when it does it does not have any Harmonic goodness to it ,

Well It really begs the Question ; what DAW and platform are you on,
... what plugs do you have besides the Ren comp.
Some ok ones are , L2 ... sony limit ... Maxim...

I was on the Waves bandwagon once... Then I got the UAD collection...

That being said, I use mostly hardware... But if I had to be stuck with plugs, I can't expect much cooler than the UAD stuff.

When the rencomp clips it just limits it the exact same way an L1 would. I find the rencomp can do so many different things if you play with it enough. As far as the UAD-1 stuff goes which ones are you talking about. I have all there compressors and have never found much use for any of them for mastering. Don't get me wrong there compressors are some of my favorite software comps, but for mastering let me know what you guys are using.

This plug is a great alternative.

Also voxengo polysquasher is tops.

GC01 is cool to.
