Thread Starter | Timeworks Mastering Compressor
I've noticed many comments here and other places about this plug....it's more transparent and punchy than L2/L3 and all the rest... so I've been messing with it... it does seem more punchy, even at higher thresholds... but in looking (why look, you say tutt ) at the wave, I've noticed that it is essentially flat topping the wave...which is funny, because I remember someone saying not long ago that they'd just as soon do a gain change as use a limiter like the L2... Thoughts anyone? |

More punchy than the Waves - yes. More clean - no. And also, I hear "small", when going Timeworks. But it can work on certain materials - I tend to say that it can be best on dance stuff (where the loudest thing is the groove), good on rock - I hear less colouration on the upper spectrum than the Waves -IMHO (less bright on the guitars, less smash on the snare body). Sometime - it can sound muffled. Yes - it outputs a sqare wave, when heavy limiting. While Waves can add a continuous distortion when doing that, Timeworks is distorting more on the peaks, than on the "body". My 2ct. |

I agree Timeworks is more for Dance, HHop and RnB type where you want your groove and beats loud and clear with nothing smearing the snares or squashing your drums. The best I have used (and I have used them all) for such Genre of musc. Unfortunately it's no longer in production and I can't use it on my new windows 7 machine.
