Hi folks, actually, there more and more artistes doing that - like this band (french or uk ?) who post straight from their studio without mastering. As we can hear there're not even into the loudness war ! what is this new attitude - a new style ? check (still looking for info on them) : YouTube - CRAVE FOR LOVE Cheers (is fairchild okay for mastering ? If there an album for this, someone still arranged the songs in order, adjusted the gaps, cleaned heads & tails, possibly adjusted the relative levels of the tracks. In other words, mastered. For the video format, some of the above was still done. It IS mastering.

Always thought Mastering is first about putting a great album from 14 (....) raw tracks, the gaps, tails and specially the order that makes a great record to listen to from start to end.. Just like a story. Then making them sound good on all systems.
