Post without mastering

Hi folks,

actually, there more and more artistes doing that - like this band
(french or uk ?) who post straight from their studio without mastering.

As we can hear there're not even into the loudness war !

If there an album for this, someone still arranged the songs in order, adjusted the gaps, cleaned heads & tails, possibly adjusted the relative levels of the tracks.

In other words, mastered.

For the video format, some of the above was still done. It IS mastering.

EXACTLY! Mastering is not all about processing. It's much more about listening and making fine adjustments. This process heavy "make it sound like XXXX" thing is relatively new.

Always thought Mastering is first about putting a great album from 14 (....) raw tracks, the gaps, tails and specially the order that makes a great record to listen to from start to end.. Just like a story. Then making them sound good on all systems.
