Can I master from a multi track digital recorder like a Zoom 16 tr

I am about to buy a Zoom 16track digital recorder and want to know if the final burned product will be considered mastered. Some of the recorders offer a mastering function. If I get one that offers a specific mastering routine would that equal real mastering at a facility?

Thanx for the help in advance

No. You still need to get it mastered by a pro. If a preset was able to do the job of a real mastering engineer then they would all be out of business.

The only thing "routine" about the service of mastering is careful listening and that every job is a clean slate.
You could, however, take a stereo mix (aka "bounce") from it to be mastered, although if it's the MRS1608 I think it offers only 16bit/44.1k. Still, it might sound better than from, say, a Roland VS880/1680/2480.

Is adding presence the same as subtracting absence?
