Seal's Commitment

I just got Seal's new release called Commitment.
Great record, very good songs, but sound...
No low mids - sounds like all warmth was removed.
Hole between 100hz - 1khz.
Distortion, cliping you can hear.Loud as hell.
Edgy sounding highs.
Why would anyone want to distroy such a wonderful
record?

"Human Being" had a bit of a smiley curve as well, which was hard to listen to. The album before it sounded good to my ears. Seems like it's either hit or miss with some of his recordings.

it's too loud, especially for his loud singing style. Loud on loud.

I've only heard samples on iTunes. Those usually sound different than the CD. I've bought the
CD and should have it delivered any day now. But the songs themselves were really excellent.

Scoop out the low mids and smash the top end! Quite a common formula these days on commercial CDs. It's a shame. Reminds me of the early 1990s when CDs were being remastered and sounded brittle as hell.

Screw with this loudness, they take the low's attack in exchange to mid's and high's for loudness, record labels first point loudness to the moon, idiots.

I felt the same about his last one. I think it's more about the mic he was using and being too close to it. I love Seal's records with Trevor Horn. They still sound great to my ear.

I'm listening to Tom Petty's Mojo at the moment, and it's got some heat. It is light in the low-end, but I think it sounds quite good for the most part.

What a killer record. I have to say, having grown up listening to Seal, I don't care that much about what the masters sounds like, I am just happy to listen to creative, intelligent, passionate music. That guy is some talent.

Love Seal... but his smoking is affecting his sound and I`m not happy about that... The songs are good, not great... David Foster must go... I WANT TREVOR!!! the mastering on it blows.

You don`t need any more gear, you need to re-write the chorus.
