Thread Starter | Emphasis before dither?
Just sheer morbid curiosity for this one. I was thinking about the typical noise shaping, like D and F, used for dither and how much more energy is in the extreme high end. This would have to be noticeable on some kinds of material at very low levels. I'm wondering if it'd be possible or advantageous to use emphasis BEFORE dither to help further hide noise for CD releases. All CD players are REQUIRED to allow for de-emphasis right? I've never actually used emphasis on any CDs I've mastered but just got to wonder about this yesterday.
