Ok. I figured you were trying to find a sweet spot, because you cranked it somewhat and then pulled back from there, and then A/B'd with what seemed to be bypass.

Well, far be it from me to disgree with the man who makes the machine(!) but when I had it here for review it was used 90% of the time on full mixes, and for a lot of mastering, and I think it shone - especially with clearing mud: something I had not at all expected. Agreed, most of the time it was at the lowest of the low settings (Silver Sonya's `deft touch'), but even that added something very nice which I now miss.

As Allen said, a mastering edition would be wonderful: smaller range and switches, but I didn't find it resistant to recall - you just have to be inventive with how you describe the knob positions ...

Cheers,
Eric

No, it's definitely the kiss that you get on both the top and the bottom with the Silk band.

There's also the camera on your iPhone to capture settings :-)

It's my new "sessions template"

Now that it's been out a while, does the clarifonic remain on those master busses ? Very interested in this or a BAX

I have one. I use it every once in a while. It does what nothing else does. It definitely works in a mastering environment. The fact that it's not stepped is not a big deal as I'm usually using it in M/S.

I interned at a major New York Mastering studio, and the Clariphonic was one of their most used pieces of gear.

Perhaps a extra option idea Greg for the Clariphonic with stepped controls? That would what... a extra 300dollar for 4 nice stepped controls?
I use it only on my masterbuss on the moment. And yes it makes "dull" and lifeless muddy mix's, more open, tight and well interesting sounding. Best piece of gear in YEARS for me.

the Clarifonic is one of a kind with a very unique and musical approach.
I got mine around 4 weeks ago. I am loving it.
It won`t leave my Mixbuss any time soon.

I've been using it on every mix.... Sounds so nice on the mix buss!
It has a really natural top lift that feels slightly different then other EQs
