Rubbing my thighs with fervent joy.....

...for I've just taken delivery a new (kind of) piece of gear....

Ive loved my Pullet, but the excessive range, and non-stepped gain pots on the mid lift and cut was annoying in a mastering context, and the high band cut and lift was too large to be useful in all but extreme situations...

Im delighted to now be in possession of a unit modified for me by Vic Keary to address these niggles..

- smaller range on the mid lift and cut (+/- 8dB)
- stepped gain on the mid lift and cut (+/- 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0)
- modified high lift and cut frequencies (9KHz, 16KHz, 30KHz)
- reduced high lift and cut gain (+/- 3dB)

On a few tests it (still) sounds fantastic, but far more usable.
Looking forward to putting it through its paces on some real projects later..

Nicely done Ben. Lovely piece of kit - those changes are all the best ones to make. I shall certainly be following in your footsteps (pre-cider imbibing anyway).

Cheers,

Eric

Nice one Ben - would like to see (and hear) at some point.

Oh look, if it isn't Les Quatre Mousquetaires...

I'm glad it's just your thighs you're rubbing... This is a civilized forum if I'm not mistaken!

Congrats, the picture seemed to be upside down, but then I remembered I was in Australia after all.

The King

ps Lowland I think you misspelt it's Les Quatres Moustiques! Bzzzzz

I simply can't understand why ME's have acquired such a reputation for being obsessives?

This is finest-kind slutziness you know ...

You'll be pleased to know that in my racks, black units have black screws and silver units have silver ones

Apostolos, you'd cringe if you saw my plain wood screws of various sizes.. Colours doesn't even match the gear!

Ben - are your thighs warm enough by now? Had any time to listen to the EQ inbetween the rubbing action?

Pardon?

Hey John,

I'm using the orpheus pre's which are very clean. Vic set up the Pullet to match the input impedance of them, which I think from memory is 5.5K.

@ Nigel, Eric, I'll bring it over when I up that way to see Bob.

@ Andreas, only needed on a couple of tracks yesterday but (as one would expect given experience with the standard pullet) it sounds fantastic. Remarkably natural.
