0db bounce as loud as -6db bounce

Hi guys,

To lower the volume of my speakers I usually adjusted the volume button of my Apogee Duet. Now I have a RME Fireface, so to lower the volume I have to go into TotalMix (a program that comes with it) and have to change the volume there, a lot of work.

So I am fiddling around with my master volume in Logic for a change. going from 0db to -6 or -8db, so the neighbours stay happy..

But I made a bounce of -6db by mistake and came to the conclusion that the bounce was equally loud as the 0db bounce.. I have a SSL Compressor plugin and a Logic Limiter on the master channel. And Logic bounces with Normalize on.

Is this normal. and why? shouldnt -6db be less loud?

Cheers!
