I have modified my post to reflect that.... it's still a very good EQ IMO.... I don't really use the LP stuff, because my experience with it has been less ideal than traditional EQ....and I don't really work on any music where it would be beneficial....although I have used it on some solo piano and some string masters

Fill in the demo request form on this page.... 10-band precise linear-phase parametric DirectX/VST Equalizer for mastering and re-mastering of complex mixes without changing their character Or otherwise just write to them and ask for a demo at pro-support@algorithmix.com . EDIT :- I add too that the latency on this plugin is HUGE! Even at the lowest quality setting. I don't consider this a problem for mastering, but it seems that they considered the best route to high quality would be to introduce a very large delay for the processing.

| can't see how it could.... I wouldn't mind having another tool available, for when the situation arises I am concerned over the latency, because I do employ parallel side chains from time to time...I suppose I could do some simple math and use delay to compensate for this |

All worthy hosts should compensate for this anyway in a digital environment. This is what the manual says on the matter. "Important remarks about latency Do not be angry with the unusual long latency when using LinerPhase PEQ Red, especially at high Accuracy settings (up to one second). It is just the natural property of linear-phase filters and nobody is able to reduce the latency at particular accuracy level. The reason is that linear-phase filters, independent on the way they are implemented, need a long part of the past and future signal for calculations. Please understand that there is no equivalent of linear-phase filtering in nature and such filters became possible first after introducing DSP technology. If you want to use linear-phase filters you must “pay” with increased latency. If you absolutely cannot tolerate longer latency you should use classical PEQs which apply so called minimal-phase filters. " |

the key there is worthy host.... this was the biggest problem I had with Waves LP eq's....the delay compensation in PT HD was quite a bit off also I use a tc 6000 mainframe....and, sadly, there is no way for the host DAW to calculate it's own internal latencies.... it's become a bit of a nightmare to be honest....still going to give this RED LP a crack though....

In fact here is the manual. I'm sure they won't mind me reproducing it in this context.

Most of you probably don't master in waveburner/logic... but the apple linear phase Eq is actually pretty good.

As my impressions were a tad different (except at a theoretical level the musical niceness - and I don't mean colour - was not inversely proportional to the precision I needed) and I had a lot of exposure to both EQ's, working on a number of professional projects which benefitted from them both, I was wondering, as I said, about the conditions of the comparisons. You're a serious man, and I take your opinions seriously, but there's an awful lot of simple re-assertion and arguments from authority (`I've heard it's really good!') going on elsewhere. It's not easy to get a Red and a Weiss in the same room. Cheers, Eric (Oh yes: PM sent)
