Spectrum Displays

Hi, not sure of the exact word but I am looking for a plug in that allows you to see exactly how your track is sounding in the mix, with mhz across the bottom. Does anyone know where I can buy one? and what they are called?

I really need this so I know if my track is too lobsided in the low or high ends, thanks.

MHz?

Recent threads suggest they are called Trouble. (Real name: RTA)

WTF are you on about you fool? Hip hop forum?

You can get plug in's that display the frequencies of your track hz and Khz across a spectrum, allows you to see in realtime the mix of your track and whether it is too heavy in a certain range. Do you really not know what I am going on about?

My friend has one in his studio but he doesn't know the name of it either, it was part of a bundle.

Well since you can't hear MHz a spectrum analyzer or RTA makes sense. I use a MHz analyzer to get masters "radio ready".

Another free analyzer:
Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst - Real Time Spectrum Analysis Plug-in (VST, Audio Unit, RTAS, DX) (Freeware)

And your friend is too _____ (enter a word of your choice here) to run the plugin and tell you its name? ;-)

Anyway, here is the link to the before mentioned SPAN. (Click on the underlined word.)

Thanks, obviously I'm not a mastering engineer and not pretending to be, but I need to master my tracks as best as I can with my current set up.

Do a Google search - plenty of free spectrum analyzers out there. If you're on a mac and want something more comprehensive cheack out Spectrafoo by Metric Halo. Hope this help.

First a random irrelevant post at Music Computers ...then a question about the most controversial tool in our trade...now stand back and think

I don't know... But I am much more surprised that people have been feeding the really obvious troll in another thread around here for days...

Come on dude I know (and you know) what it means.

Plz understand that I alerted ppl so they do not end up being old knowitalls, or smugs towards a troll. I hate those long threads so I was trying to prevent it from happening again.

and who you calling old

Without comedy tired old questions would be boring and you would likely end up losing a good portion of those who can answer naive questions with a little extra "insight".

Nobody was harmed in the making of this thread.

(especially for anonymous posters)

Very True.

Maybe you are right these type of threads (you know, the ones where a person asks about RTAs and then 32 pages of arguments appear in a day) should be there for the laughs. Some of the comments were hilarious. Maybe even for educational reasons...but how much more education do we need on RTAs? ...anyway
They are degrading the forum in my opinion.

I'm trolling? haha you joker.

Care to explain what is random or irrelevant about my post in the music computers section? Last I saw, I was asking about whether or not people thought that build would make a good music computer as I am on the verge of buying, care to point me in the direction of the sub forum I should have posted it in instead?

Must admit I seem to have encountered a few idiots on here already (which is some going). This is a shame as I've been lurking for a while and it's a great site..

Thanks for the positive replies, my OP could have been more eloquently put but I was in a rush.

He did not say MHz (MegaHertz) but mHz which is milliHertz. Did you flunk basic math & physics in high school, Bab?

About the meter: Audition for one has such an analyzer (working from about 10 Hz up to where ever the file goes), which is quite useful for finding out various things about the audio content. Reaper also comes with a plugin for the same, but it is not nearly as good.

Funny.

Dont promote too much wisdom here, Petrus. Half of the so-called professionals in this forum have zero-clue what tool in Audition youre even talking about let alone how to use it.
