Play & Rec with same Platform

Please describe your mode since I notice, a lot of ME's, few with two or more computer's and others just one.

Same Platform system for Playback, and Rec with same clock?

what convertors sound better with a specific genre?
(Digi, Sonic, RME, Lynx, etc)

Please share your experience.

What style's of music, sometimes match better to play from what source?

Sequoia: play out of 3&4, round the block, record back in through 1&2. There's a button for each path on my Crookwood so I can choose which to listen to. Clock source is the AD half way round the chain.

I'm afraid I don't understand your second question.

Cheers,

Eric

Basically RME converters are more midrange forwarded.
Mytek very precise and little dark.
Lynx are like combo of RME & Mytek.

Normally chain starts at Protools, goes out to Lavry Blue, Lavry Gold, Crane Song HEDD Mytek, Rme and goes through analog gear and coming back to Sequia or Sonic solutions.

Easily done with Pro Tools HD or Sonic soundBlade on a Mac, with a digital or analog loop.

That said, I'm currently using two DAWs 'cause I like the workflow better.

Yes I'm sorry about my typo
I mean what convertors sound better with a specific genre.

The MH 2882 works well for things that need to keep the air.
The Digi 002 more unified the sound into a ball.
And the Lynx 16E card commercial sound more in your face.

Any way the algorithm on the software's make it sound different the fire wire or the slots?

Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but that's been my experience.

I playback with Mac and track with PC

You try soundblade with RME or LYNX cards and the 300 series Sonic studio systems?

DAW playbacks modes.
The MH 2882 works well for folk, jazz or things that need to keep the air.
The Digi 002 more for Rock, alternative, dance, unified the sound into a ball.
And the Lynx 16E card more commercial sound for Hip Hop, Rap more in your face.

I think I have non-genre-specific converters. I use them on everything from classical to classic rock: seems to me that it's what's between them that counts after a certain level.

Cheers,

Eric

I have several computers but each one does a different job. There's an office/book keeping computer, a 16 input & 16 output workstation for multitrack & rearchival stuff, a 2 input 2 output workstation for mastering & video editing and a laptop for work on the go or just fiddling with stuff. The editor can send a signal into the mastering console and/or the mixing console. The inputs are fed directly by the mastering console OR the mixing console.

That's the first time I've ever heard Mytek referred to as dark.

Running a Sonic model 305 with soundBlade, as well as a Mytek 8x192 (and no, it isn't dark at all).

easy on Ableton too.Cubase also and Logic, from some years ive done that on an M Audio fast track, RME 400 MOTU and Saffire any of.. from usb 6 to the big babes.

I do it on every bounce before do the final master.

my signal goes from output to a mcintosh preamplifier, from there to a DBX 3bx, that i sometimes use when its needed,

then go back to the interfase,
my studio works mainly on mastering so there are no big gears around,
compared to some of what we see here in the forum,

hope that helps,

HEDD and Waveburner here. Taking advantage of the HEDD's double clock tomfoolery to input digitally from a typical 44.1 session, output analogue audio at higher sample rates, SRC and record digitally back at 44.1. If that makes sense...
I like HEDD for various genres. Clean enough for acoustic while also allowing for knob twiddling enhancements that suit more aggressive music styles.
