Embedding CD track names on dup master

My client wants me to give him his CD master so that the CD track names sho show up when he inserts it into his auto's CD Player the way other CDs show the track names. Although Im using toast with "CD TEXT enabled, the CDs wont show the track names when inserted into his auto's CD player!
I know mastering and duplication plants do this but he wants me to do it and I would like to learn
Please help

First you may check if the text is there when you (re)mount the disc and in Toast choose disc > info (shortcut: apple-i)

The CD writer/player brand/model you use must have capability to write text.

Also, if it is text write capable, make sure the player you use can display text.

Why do some albums when put in the car show Artist/Album/Song names. But others (like mine) only show Song name?

A few possibilities:
* some players might not display all the fields
* some CD's might not have all the fields embedded
* some CD's might have multiple items embedded into a single field

Did you receive a PQ list showing the embedded CD Text for your approval? Can you check what was actually embedded in your computer?

Best regards,

I believe this can be a preference setting.
So the same player may show a certain field in one car while invisible in another.

Handy and confusing at the same time.

There are some nebulous "standards" with CD-Text that are still unresolved.

any other info on this? any one know of a mid price range burner that DOES burn cd-text? seems like plextor drives are the obvious choice for mastering, but are there any other internal drives that have really low errors AND cd text for around or under $100? thanks!

The OptiArc 7241 (or 7240) is an excellent burner and works well with the TY media discussed here.

I've cut at least 100 masters on mine with CD-Text, ISRC and UPC...no issues (yet!)

thanks for the help, but it's my understanding that this drive DOES NOT burn cd-text. it only reads it. i think i have the same drive as a matter of fact... and looking on sony's site, there was no definitive answer, but i know for sure my optiarc dvd/cd with lightscribe doesnt burn cd-text. i just bought it last week cause i needed a new dvd drive anyways. i tried to burn track titles in nero, and checked on nero's "infotool" program, and it had a big red X next to write cd text...

here's the info from sony's site. looks like maybe my drive can burn cd text, but not conventionally...

"Optiarc DVD writer AD-series support CD-TEXT. CD-Text can be written by special software in raw mode. Please consult software manufacturer for details on writing data in raw mode."

any ideas on a cheap program to write dependable masters in raw mode?? or some advice in general? most clients do not ask for cd text, as itunes is the usual suspect for ripping songs (uploading track titles to gracenote takes 30 seconds, super easy...), but it'd be nice to do it if i need to.

thanks for all the help!

To try n' help, I burn my CD's from Adobe Audition 3. I can insert CD Text, Artist Name, and ISRC codes then send that disc off for duplication fully ready to go.

There is a certain system of "tagging" songs Ive dealt with before that makes you assign 3 different fields/names in a Artist Name(%), Song Name(/), Album Name(*) kind of way. Its real late and I could be wrong, but as mentioned before about the whole thing being a bit nebulous, it is in the way that some CD players may not read that (%),(/),(*) system or code. Ill poke around A3 for that again
