Thread Starter | Bob Katz Plug-in
With all the auto-mastering plug-ins, mastering for $1, and questions about which mastering plug-in is best, maybe it's time for real mastering engineers to consider joining rather than trying to beat the trend. I say, give up the "use your ears" thing and create your own VSTs that produce the sound you want everyone to have. Include Barefoot, B&W, Dunlavy, and Duntech emulation for Mackie speakers and Weiss emulation for Samson Eqs. I personnally am holding out for a Bob Katz mastering VST. |

| ![]() Bob Katz already has a plugin out there. you can spend $999 to be able to flip a channel's polarity, slightly delay them, and filter what gets mixed back in. Your post is a joke, right?

But, if anyone thought I was serious and started creating a plug-in, please include a "Sounds Good" indicator...... | |

How about a plugin that reminds the user to look less at the screen?

I didn't think you were. You did say you were holding out. But there's lots of people here that have created their own, i for one have, and many of them sell plugins too , i don't but i might end up giving away some in the future.Do I do it to make everyone sound the same? Haha... Out of my own chain, I would say I usually only have about 20% of the plugins engaged if that. And I have a very selective chain, painstakingly filtered from the huge pile of truly s* - from a mastering perspective. And only about 25% of those are my own plugins. There really isn't such a thing as "cookie-cutter mastering." Just "cookie-cutter idiots", if they bother to charge people for it. This has no relation to Bob Katz or K-Stereo of course, he's got my utmost respect, for real. Just conversatin' or possibly starting a flame war. |
