Anything wrong mastering W/ Motu's DP?

Is there anything wrong with mastering using Digital Performer. I am really used to DP, I fly through it all the time because I have been on it so long. It seems like the bitrate is as high as other mastering programs. I am considering going out of one 2408 card, through external cranesong EQ, compressor, through the waves maxx BCL and into another MOTU daw. I do want to take other peoples projects once in a while. Is there any major reason why I couldn't do this? It seems that I could completely lay out an entire CD within Digital Performer.
Thanx in advance for any thoughts.

Yes you can, although if I am not mistaken DP is not - strictly speaking - a mastering DAW like Pyramix, Sadie and so on. It means you will need another application on top of DP to compile your masters (pq coding, isrc codes, DDP etc.)

Many have mastered in Cubase and Nuendo, so why would DP, be any different.. But, as Riccardo put it, it may need more than what DP's got.

i play out of DP through my analog rig into Peak to record and, ultimately build the playlists, fades, etc in Peak.

despite what some people say, the DAW wont' make a difference, just make sure you're using the best outputs and convertors you can.

We do our Mastering in DP, and there's no problem at all. However, you'll have to use another program if you want to compile and burn a CD (for example, Audiophiles Wave Editor).
