Thread Starter | SPL meter in studio Ok, my friend just bought SPL meter, and we both try to find out how to approach metering in studio. How far from speakers metering should be done ? Should we use pink noise, or any other material ? any info/links very appreciated thank you in advance |

Verified Member | What are you trying to do? If all you're trying to do is measure what dbSPL you're monitoring at, sit at your listening location, turn the thing on and watch the numbers. If you're trying to calibrate each speaker (to make sure they're both outputting the same level), a simple 500hz tone at the same distance for both should be enough. |

| Hey John, I just wanted to chime in and say that compared to the wordy threads here on GS about K sys and such, this was well worded and anyone can understand it. Nice job. BTW, I am up in Milwaukee and would love to come down and see you place some time. My regular mastering engineer here in Milwaukee is moving out of state in a few months and many of my clients prefer attended mastering sessions, so I would love to have someplace "sort of close" to turn them to.
