A question from a noob about mastering.

Hello, i had a cheap rap mastering job lately. i know very few things about mastering but wanted to figure out something. Anyway, mixed tracks were really awful; unbalanced, overcompressed also have weird bass peak and without any air like 8k and above because of the freq crash and overcompression. i can say it was just like a rescue mission.

anyway, tried to decompress a bit, and multiband compressed bass freqs, used very little eq and boosted a bit with psp plugs. In monitors it's ok (using oldskool genelecs) also listened in some useless mp3 player and also in standart speakers and from headphones and laptop. It had sound ok in all these referances. But i listened these songs in a car today and it's was really strange. clipped and i heard only chaos of some noises. Couldn't figure why but i guess it's about BT stereo imager plug-in.

Well my english sucks with my knowledge and need help.

Did you write to cd when checking the master in the car? maybe it had a normalizer/enhancer selected...

Maybe it's just too much energy to handle for your car speakers (DA).

yea it might be really. it was a bit louded so i turned a bit off today its not bad right now but try to test it in a car again.
