Thread Starter | SCMS Burning CD Master with Waveburner
Just curious, am using waveburner to burn CD master for client who needs ISRC's. I notice the default SCMS setting is protected original. What is the difference between "protected original" and "free" and which would I used for a CD master. I'm guessing "free" as I don't really see anyone caring about any sort of CD copy protection these days. Am I wrong?

Sorry.. No one answered your question and it probably dropped down the list of posts too quickly to be noticed. "Protected Original" means that a copy can be made from the CD, but a subsequent copy cannot be cloned from the first copy. "Protected Copy" means that no copies can be made of the original CD. It's a hangover from the DAT days. Just go "free", like you suggested.

Verified Member | WaveBurner does not actually have SCMS on by default when burning since it is not activated in the preferences menu. I read in another post on GS that something "didn't like WB because of this". Hmm
