Thread Starter | Please advise!! Need to finish a project next week.
I just finished mixing a Jazz standards project. I have 13 songs with a raw program running time of about 42:00 minutes. Stereo tracks at 88.2/24bit . I will be supplied with ISRC codes as well UPC codes next week. What I need done is to have these songs mastered and then a PMCD made with the codes. It's been a while since I had to get a project mastered myself so I have been in sticker shock by some of the quotes I have received lately. I want to pay/hire someone who will obviously do a stellar job. With that I will gladly compensate him/her there worth. BUt budgets being budget I have to work within my means. If I have a mastering engineer master my project and NOT coded. If I use Toast titanium to drop codes myself would I be shooting myself in the foot? Thanks in advance for your replies and advice.

Verified Member | Yes, respectfully and in a nutshell: if you have a budget for mastering then a good portion of that will fundamentally be for creating the Production Master, with all codes intact, not to mention careful reduction from 24/88.2k to 16/44.1k. It's all the more important to get things right, first up, if you're on a tight timeline.

Thank you for your reply. SO you are saying even if I my project professionally mastered. Including the SRC from 88.2 down to 44.1 but I create the production master myself I could be in big trouble? | |
