Thread Starter | Modest budget vrs Mixing well concern (realy need advice)
Sorry that I'm still going about this but I'm really frustrated with my mix translations to other systems... Like I'm about to get really depressed frustrated! (By the way if some one can please tell me how bad are the Alesis M1 Active monitors? It will make me feel better...) So I've been thinking NS10s with cheapo amp or A7s... But for those I need to save up for another month or so (and I might not live that long mixing on these Alesis)... Or... Yamaha HS50m which in my range to go get tomorrow... Would it be better for translation than Alesis M1 I have right now... May be one of Krk around $600? I know some people can mix on them pretty well... Or... Should I just get Avaton Mix Cube (for overall balance picture) and save up for A7 or NS10m with an amp for another month or 2? Please help if you can... I really need advice here? |

Is your room treated? I will tell you that while adding better monitors and even a much much better D/A has improved my translations by ALOT. Treating the room well and properly, really allowed me to hear the differences in these upgrades. I also happen to have over 15 sound systems that I test things on...currently hard wiring a few more up the studio system as we speak... So I would say that you need to treat your space as well as LEARN ITS INADEQUACIES and act with them in mind. If you do these things, your translation will improve greatly IMO! |

I was very frustrated with that when starting out and I had access to NS10s and every other speaker known to humankind. What I found is it's all in your head. I usually try to listen to other great mixes in my monitoring environment to calibrate my ears. Of course a solid set of monitors and a treated room help incredibly. I like KRKs, but I can't say they're right for everyone. |

Which KrKs do you like? Any recommendations in a $600 range?
