Thread Starter | Anyone dithering w/ Oxford Dynamics plug-in?
I don't exactly understand why the Sony Oxford Dynamics plug would feature diter other than the manual stating "...for wordlength reduction in mastering situations". I'm in a situation where all I need on my output is the Dynamics --> Inflator and nothing else. Will dithering be effective at that stage....? I'm gonna do a mixdown with it on, but I'm mainly curious if others are using it and when. Thanks in advance. |

Just leave it on 24 bit and there will be no dithering. You would only be dithering if you engaged it to 16 bit.

I know the cardinal rule of dithering is that it's supposed to be the last stage in processing, but I can't imagine why one would put the Dynamics plug-in last in a chain... Unless of course it's the only device used. Bah. Whatever. I have bigger things to worry about! |
